Why choose wishbone chairs from Calder & Oak
A wishbone chair gives a dining room a calm, Scandinavian-leaning look while the curved back rail supports the arms of seated guests. Every piece is built for commercial use: we specify joints, fixings and finishes for daily service rather than domestic use, and we confirm materials in writing before production.
Customisation options
- Seat cord in natural, black or grey
- Oak, ash or walnut frame
- Hard-wax oil or contract lacquer for easier cleaning
- Removable seat cushion
Upholstered items can be specified to the UK fire standard your venue requires (for example BS 5852 Crib 5 or BS EN 1021-1/2); we confirm the compliant foam and fabric build with your quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Is paper cord practical in a restaurant?
Paper cord is tough and repairable, but it marks if spills are left. For busy venues we recommend a seat cushion or a lacquered frame with darker cord.
Is this the original designer chair?
No. It is our own Y-back dining chair, made to our specification. We do not copy protected designs or use other brands’ names.
Can you match our timber finish?
Yes. Send a finish sample or reference and we produce a strike-off panel for approval before production.
